Building Community, Building Lives
PYB’s Construction Bridge program has, among other expectations, high attendance standards. Victor, while always a solid worker with a great attitude on the job, used all of his allowed absences in the first week, thus having no flexibility for the remaining eight weeks.
However, it became clear at the beginning of the second week that something had changed. Succeeding in Bridge became Victor’s top priority. He began showing up 30-40 minutes early every day, checking in with his trainer, and doing whatever he felt was needed to help his cohort get going in the morning. This renewed commitment, and team-oriented attitude culminated in his successful completion of the program and BOLI certification.
