Building Community, Building Lives
PYB students take learning seriously and are able to find academic success in our program, despite the fact that many have been out of high school for a year or more. Why is that? We think it’s a combination of factors:
- Excellent academic instruction – Students work towards earning their high school diploma or GED while developing strong critical thinking, writing, reading, math, job readiness, and leadership skills.
- Small class sizes with individual attention – PYB students study in small classes with caring teachers who support them in achieving their best academically.
- A culture of high expectations – Experience shows us that when the bar is raised, students will do all they can to meet the challenge.
All students who continue into post-secondary education receive support from PYB throughout their entire college or apprenticeship experience. Our students tour college campuses and apprenticeship programs, receive assistance with financial aid, and may receive college credit for work completed at PYB. Portland YouthBuilders is a diploma-granting high school and is fully accredited by the Northwest Accreditation Commission.
