Building Community, Building Lives

I’ve always been attracted to helping the environment.  When I heard that we were doing that at PYB, I wanted to be a part of it.

Service Day Brings PYB Together

Service Day Brings PYB Together

PYB's all-school Service Day on May 8th brought together students and staff to volunteer at other nonprofits across SE Portland.

Participating in a day of service builds levels of civic engagement within our diverse body of at-risk youth and provides them the opportunity to network with community members.

Volunteer projects included removing weeds and other invasive species, building an irrigation system, painting a mural, building a mini greenhouse, preparing garden beds, and much more!

Huge thanks to our community partners for hosting students and staff for Service day at City Repair, Zenger Farm, Metropolitan Family Services SUN program at Lincoln Park Elementary School, Johnson Creek Watershed Council, and Learning Gardens Laboratory in partnership with Portland Fruit Tree Project. Special thanks to New Seasons Market for generously donating lunch items of bread, granola bars, and fruit. This Service Day was funded in part by the East Portland Neighborhood Office Community Activities Fund.
