Nutrition Education Program Launches
PYB students will now have the opportunity to participate in a ten week Nutrition Education Program that encompasses learning about healthy eating habits, cooking on a budget and exploring food resources within the community.
The Nutrition Education Program aims to provide PYB students with further education and resources surrounding healthy food access. Coordinated by Andrew Mathe, an AmeriCorps VISTA Member at PYB, this new program will further the mission and capacity of PYB to support young people become self-sufficient as well as healthy members of the workforce and community.
This program has also been identified by researchers at Oregon Health and Science University (OHSU) to be a participating study group in the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) Total Worker Health (TWH) initiative to promote the strategy of health and well-being integrated with occupational safety and health.
